Safe (defensive) driving course in Sofia — for drivers who want to feel calm, confident and fully in control behind the wheel

The Course

The Safe / Defensive Driving course is recommended for every driver.

Our curriculum — theory and practical exercises — guarantees safety and confidence when driving in urban and rural environments, in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, ice) and on all surface types (asphalt, gravel, sand). Training is delivered at an advanced scientific-methodological level, ensuring complete vehicle control and the ability to avoid accident-causing situations.

All practical sessions are conducted using the Academy's own vehicles. Students choose the drivetrain they wish to train with — front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or 4×4. We recommend selecting the same drivetrain you use every day.

For drivers who struggle with parking, we also offer individual sessions until the skill is fully mastered.

Who is this course for?

For anyone who wants to feel calm and confident at the wheel, including those who feel uncertain about their driving skills. The Academy will help you overcome any fear of driving.

Theory

Taught using an advanced scientific methodology developed specifically by automotive engineers, physicists, and designers.

Practical Training

Practical sessions are led by highly qualified instructor Vasil Jekov — a certified specialist trained in the USA.

Location

Training takes place at the Academy's dedicated track using the Academy's vehicles. Training with your own car is available on request.

The Programme

Day I

Theory
- Correct body position in the vehicle
- Steering wheel technique
- Corner entry — fast curve, open corner, closing corner, and reverse corner
Practical
- Correct seating and body position in the vehicle
- Mastering proper steering technique and hand grip positions
- Corner entry during a simulated vehicle slide

Day II

Theory
- Traction and weight transfer
- Throttle control
- Braking
- Gear changes and handbrake technique
Practical
- Increasing traction through weight transfer
- Progressive throttle application
- Braking — progressive brake pedal pressure, downshifting, and progressive braking
- Gear changes and handbrake technique

Day III

Theory
- Understeer and oversteer
- Racing lines
Practical
- Understeer and oversteer correction techniques for front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and 4×4 vehicles
- Racing lines
Closing Session
- Review and refinement of all three days
- Certificate presentation
